Indian embroidery
Down a narrow, dank alley we found craftsmen creating embroidered cloth. They sit on the floor and use one hand on top of the fabric and the other below it to quickly make each stitch. We asked permission to take the pictures and they were thrilled!

Auto rickshaw - Indian taxi
Auto rickshaws and motorcycles crowd the streets of Bangalore. I've yet to ride in one, preferring instead the safety of the hotel car or our Hertz driver and car, but I plan on riding in one before I leave!

Half of the palace is open to the public and the other half is the Maharaja's residence. Because India is now a democracy, the Maharaja is just a figure-head, much like the royal family in England.

To choose material for a saree, you sit in a chair while the merchant sits on an elevated, cloth covered platform and unfolds the material for your your review - it's a feast for the eyes!

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to hear about your weekend. Mike is back from China as of about 1AM today. Our dog, Krieger, is just falling all over himself because he really missed Mike. It is VERY FRIGID here!
